❉Animal Reports by Me!❉

If you don't know that I LOVE animals, you don't know me! Lol! I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE animals, and love to learn about them!I think they are the coolest things on earth! ;D
Soo, here are a couple reports I wrote for my best friend's blog (LINK)

Wolves
I didn't see any Canine page, but I suggest we should make one soo-oooon!! ;P
Okay -now. . . when you think of the word wolf, you think about all of the fairy tales, like Little Red Riding Hood, or the saying A Wolf is Sheep's Clothing. But, to tell you the truth, wolves really aren't those blood thirsty animals that everyone takes them as. They're not people eating beasts, or the death of the forest.
Eye color: The most common color is the majestic golden yellow, but they can range from beautiful icy blue, to an ember brown, and a pale green.
Fur Color: Mostly gray, as seen in almost all of the wolf pictures you find on the internet, but it can also be a sleek jet black, an off-white shade, a deep muddy brown, and a vibrant red/brown color.
Anatomy: the Wolf has a thick strong necks, big pointed ears, and powerful jaws, that can easily crush through bones. Their long, very strong legs can carry them across mile-long tundras, and thick woodlands. With these amazingly durable legs, they can run for days-on-end. . .! -Wow! :O
Here is a little report I did a while ago on Wolves.
My favorite kind of animal is the wolf. They are fast, beautiful and majestic creatures that live in the Northern region of America and many other places.
Wolves live in groups that are called “packs”. The dominant pair, otherwise known as the Alphas, lead and run the pack. The alpha female is the only she-wolf allowed to have pups in the whole pack.  When the pups are born, they are helpless, lumps of fluff- but, about a month after the tiny pups open their eyes, they will begin to wean off of their mothers milk and start eating raw meat. The whole pack helps with the pups, playing with them, and making sure that they don’t go running off into danger or get lost.
Three months after the pups start eating meat; they will begin to HUNT with the pack. At the start they might be very clumsy, but after a bit of practice, those deer and elk had better watch out!
When the pups are fully grown, their mother and father will push them out of the pack so they can start one of their own. For a couple of days, the pups may try to get back to their dear family, but they will have to learn for themselves how to rule, and run, a pack.
In the winter, wolves grow very long and thick pelts that help them keep warm, but in the summer, they will start to shed furiously, rubbing their backs and flanks (sides) on large rocks and trees. After they have rubbed and rubbed, they leave masses of fur smashed into the rough surface.
I'm not really finished with it, but is tells a bit about the way wolves live and so forth. ;)

Random Wolf Facts:
Wolves can run up to 50 mph.
There are three breeds of wolves. The most common is the Gray -or otherwise known as the Timber wolf.  Then their is the Mexican wolf, every rare, but not as rare as the Red Wolf. There are only a little more than 100 left in the Wild. . .
Wolves have 42 sharp teeth.

Mating season for the wolf occurs in February and March.

Wolves white belly's are like submission flags. When they roll onto their backs, their bright belly fur stands out. (Unless they are a solid color! Lol! xP)
Wolves howl for about 4 different reasons. #1-To tell lone wolves, or other packs that this is their land. #2- to unite the pack together. #4- or just for pure fun! xD
Red wolves -I think anyways- have the most majestic howl out of the three. They can howl for 11 seconds straight
This video doesn't show the 11 secound howl, but I still think it sounds amazing.
The Alpha pair both have a distinctive howl. Usually -I'm guessing anyway- the longer howls.
Sighs of Dominance
Like I said above, when a wolf confronts another wolf, and one rolls on his back, exposing his belly, the one that stayed up is the more dominant.
When a wolf dose this, it is just a small warning, or reminder that "Hey, I'm the boss here."
I am sure you can all guess which one is the boss, the one biting the top of the other wolf's muzzle.
I can tell this is a very high ranking wolf in its pack. 'How' you ask? Well, as you can see, his tail is held very high, which is a sign of dominance.
The black wolf in this photo is for-sure the Alpha. That's about the highest their tails can get! Lol!
These two wolves are greeting their Alpha, and assuring him that whey know he's boss.
But, if you look up 'dominant wolf ' on Google, you should find a lots of pictures of wolves assuring everybody that they're the Alpha in these parts! >:U (Hahah! Kinda'  talking Hillbilly there, huh?)

Hello! This is FrostWolf posting on . . .Kangaroos!
(I suggest we make a marsupials page soon! ;P Cause I'm a gonna' be posting on Possums next! x3)

Kangaroos

A baby kangaroo does not form in the pouch. It is born WAY before is it developed. The joey clings to its mother's fur, finding its way to the pouch. Once in, they attach to one of their mother's nipples and start nursing, and doesn't let go for a matter of months. You may ask how the tiny joey stays attached while its mother is hopping through Australia? Well, Heavenly Father designed the mother's nipple to swell right when the joey attaches, so it can't let go till its jaws are formed. The small animal is safe within its mother's pouch.

Once the joey has grown from the size of a grain of rice, to the size of a rabbit, it can hop in and out of the pouch when it pleases. But, it still nurses from the marsupium (pouch). When it is 7-10 months old, it has now completely left the pouch.

Bucks (male kangaroos) are know for their kick-boxing. Even though they prefer not to fight, mating season is an exception. When a buck wants to mate, they will fight for their rights. The two males, while facing each other, grab each other with their arms, and lean back on their thick strong tails so they can kick each other in the belly with both back legs.(Those are Red Kangaroos in the picture.)

When a kangaroo senses danger, they alert everyone by thumping their feet on the ground (Like rabbits.)
A doe (female) will call her young with a clicking sound to her side, or back in the pouch. Then, all of the mob (herd of kangaroos) will swiftly lead away out of sight.
When a kangaroo hops faster, its not a matter of how quickly they are hopping, it is how long their leaps are. The Red Kangaroo can leap up to thirty feet in one hop! WOW! You try doing that! xP

Hyenas

In my Zoology book, in the beginning of the section about hyenas it says "What looks like a cross between a Mule and a German Shepard, but acts like a cat, a vulture and a shark? It's a Hyena!"

In my own words, I will explain why my Zoology book says that. . . so. . . here I go!! ;P

It's face looks like a dog, but their necks are to thick for any Canine, not to mention to long! So their necks are more, more mule-like. But when pups/cubs nurse, they purr like kittens! o.o (Strange, huh?) But like vultures, they are a part of God's cleanup crew! (as it says in my book)

Hyenas have the most powerful jaws in all of the Animal Kingdom! These amazing animals jaws can easily crush through huge bones of big pray, like elephants and giraffes. :O Gosh! I'd hate to be a victim of a hyena attack. . .  I mean-OWCH!! O.O And awesomely amazingly. . . hyenas are able to digest the bones they crush with their razor-sharp teeth!

Hyenas have the weirdest-shaped bodies. . . don't you think?
As you can see in this picture, they have longer front legs then they do back . . .  Huh? But- I'm sure God has a reason for shaping them so strangely. ;)

There are four species of Hyena.

The most common is the Spotted Hyena. (All the pictures above are of spotted Hyenas, so I don't really think i need to put another picture up.

The Brown Hyena looks more like a slanted wolf! (That is the same picture from my book! LOL! xD)

The Striped Hyena looks like the Brown Hyena, but a lighter color and striped. They also -at least I think-  look more evil. . . In this picture, this hyena's hackles are up, but when their down, they slop to one side, and it looks kinda' weird. :\

And  last of all, there is the Aardwolf. It doesn't have the word hyena in it's name, but it is in the hyena family (Hyaenidea) The adults aren't much to look at, but I think their pups are adorable!! C: <3 <3
SO CUTE!!!!! But -ahem- moving on . . .

I am sure you are like "How does the acting like a shark have anything to do with what you are saying??!!?"
Well, I shall tell you- NOW!

You can take out the 'acting like a shark' for every other hyena- except the Spotted Hyena.

From the moment the pups are born, they seek to destroy their siblings -like sharks! But sharks kill their brothers and sisters in the womb. The mother will try to stop this horrible behavior, but to no avail. The new-born pups will begin digging small tunnels that branch off from the den. They are so small, the mother can not intervene. The cubs will crawl into these tunnels, and kill their siblings if they can. Weaker cubs will  not survive. BUT!- if the cubs don't kill each other, they will develop a harsh pecking order, like wolves.

Spotted Hyenas are more aggressive then the others, who  just peacefully look for aniaml carcases, and fruits and vegetables to eat. But the Spotties (What can I say! I have said Spotted Hyena so much!! >:I) will chase and catch their pray. Although they live in packs called Clans, they don't work together. Females are much more dominant than males, and unlike Lions, the ladies get first pickings on dinner.

Well, I hope you enjoyed them! Even I like to read them over and over again! xP
